Michael Murphy co-founded The Esalen Institute in 1962 on California's Big Sur coast, joining together lay people and experts in many fields to explore the human potential. He is the author of Golf in the Kingdom and The Future of the Body), and the co-author of In the Zone, The Life We Are Given, and The Physical and Psychological Effects of Meditation. He lives in San Rafael, California.
